About ROX

What Is ROX - it is an electrolysed water production system manufactured by Hoshizaki a company well respected in the food and healthcare sectors globally for providing quality and innovation. The ROX system was developed over 15 years ago in Japan and is now extensively used in food processing, healthcare and many other sectors where cleanliness and hygiene are paramount. ROX systems are scalable to your requirements from low volume kitchens to high volume healthcare facilities were 1000's of litres are required every day for sanitising and cleaning. How Does ROX Work - The ROX system mixes, in the right concentration, a weak saline solution with water into an electrolytic cell. The cell has two electrodes an anode and a cathode which have a current passed through them, but are separated by a membrane so that the different streams of electrolysed water are also separated. By passing the correct current through the electrodes the ROX system produces the 2 streams of electrolysed water such that their properties remain constant.   Negatively charged ions are attracted to the anode resulting in Hypochlorous Acid (HClO) being formed as well as a weak solution of Hydrochloric Acid (HCl) which makes this stream of water slightly acidic. This is the Electrolysed Oxidised (EO) water. Positively charged ions are attracted to the cathode resulting in a weak solution of Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) being formed which makes this stream of water slightly alkaline. This is the Electrolysed Reduced (ER) water. The advanced technology used by Hoshizaki in their ROX systems ensures customers get the right product at the right time all the time. What Is Electrolysed Water - it is the 2 streams of water that all ROX systems produce. The first steam of water is Electrolysed Oxidised (EO) water which is commonly known asacidic water as it is produced at a pH of about 2.7. The key properties of this EO water are that it is a highly effective sanitiser but also extremely safe. The second stream of water is Electrolysed Reduced (ER) water which is commonly known asalkaline water as it is produced at a pH of about 11.3. The key properties of this ER water are that it breaks down grease and fats but is also extremely safe. Acidic Water made by ROX systems has been scientifically proven to be one of the most powerful sanitisers available and able to destroy most bacteria, viruses and funguses on contact. The 3 key properties of acidic water which make it such a good sanitiser are: An Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP) of around 1200 millivolts. When the ORP of a liquid is above 650 millivolts this is not conducive to long term survival for bacteria. ROX acidic water with an ORP of around 1200 millivolts means most bacteria are destroyed within seconds. Having a high concentration of Hypochlorus Acid means there is significant amounts of "free chlorine" available this is known to be a very effective anti-microbial agent. ROX acidic water has over 20ppm and this chlorine is very effective in destroying pathogens. Finally most pathogenic bacteria do not like acidic solutions and are not able to grow and multiply and are also killed when you get down below pH 3. ROX acidic water is produced at a pH of about 2.7. The efficacy of ROX acidic water is partly due to the individual properties of EO water listed above, each in it own right an effective sanitiser, but when you combine all 3 in a single solution then you take Sanitising to a New Dimension. Alkaline Water made with a ROX system has a pH of about 11.3 this weak solution of Sodium Hydroxide is a safe but effective detergent and degreaser. This solution breaks down tough to remove oils, proteins and bio-films but is safe enough to wash your hand in. This is an effective cleaning solution to use on all hard surfaces including floors, tables, cooking surfaces, bathrooms and anywhere where dirt builds up. Proven Sanitiser - independent research has proven the effectiveness of ROX acidic water in the food and healthcare sectors against a wide variety of micro organisms.
